If you are a long-time member or a new member to the Kentucky Chapter, we have provided the below committee descriptions for your consideration and interest. There are so many opportunities to become involved with the chapter, anything from writing a newsletter article to Chairing a Committee. We will certainly keep you as busy as you want! Affiliations Committee Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate collaboration of HFMA with affiliated healthcare professional organizations by encouraging chapter members to serve on appropriate committees of those organizations and by including liaisons as ad hoc members of the Chapter's Board of Directors.
  • Work with the Program committee regarding education or project opportunities for co-sponsorship with other professional organizations.
  • Promote membership diversification by reaching out to healthcare professionals in areas such as group practice management, long term care, rural health, and ambulatory surgery.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Certification/Career Advancement Committee Responsibilities:

  • Disseminate information to Chapter members regarding the career benefits of HFM Certification and the available reimbursement of exam fees when certification is achieved.
  • Disseminate information to Chapter members regarding the Chapter's scholarship program to encourage members to pursue post-secondary and post-graduate education in the health care field.
  • Encourage Chapter members to write articles for publication in the Chapter newsletter, as well as other HFMA and non-HFMA publications.
  • Serve as an informational resource for Chapter members seeking new career opportunities.
  • Disseminate information regarding the Chapter's resolution to charge only a nominal  Institute registration fee of $25 for Chapter membeers who are temporatily unemployed so that they will continue to have that important networking channel.
  • Furnish committee activity report at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Chapter Outreach & Public Relations Committee Responsibilities:

  • Conduct survey of membership relative to the activities of the Chapter each year and formulate an analysis of the results by March 15th of each year.
  • Promote HFMA by sending announcements to business publications in the state.
  • Promote membership diversification by reaching out to healthcare professionals in areas such as group practice management, long term care, rural health, and ambulatory surgery.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Chapter Policy and Procedures Committee Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with National HFMA to ensure Bylaws are up-to-date and consistent with the format established by the National HFMA.
  • Furnish National HFMA with all documentation necessary to ensure incorporation of the Kentucky Chapter in the State of Illinois.

Communication/Newsletter Committee Responsibilities:

  • Provide important and useful information to the Chapter members, including six (6) publications of the Chapter newsletter, Financial Scene, and in no event will distribute less than one publication per quarter.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Corporate Sponsorship Committee Responsibilities:

  • Solicit and recognize corporate sponsors as a means of funding important chapter functions including scholarships, certification exam reimbursement, KHA Annual Convention support, and use of nationally known speakers.
  • Schedule vendor exhibits at Chapter Institutes.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Entertainment Committee Responsibilities:

  • Serve in a supporting capacity to various committees by coordinating site selection, contract negotiations, menu selection, and other general communication with facilities along with planning special activities and events for each regular Institute or special meeting.
  • Coordinate with Sponsorship Chairman for site selections and availability.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Financial Review Committee Responsibilities:

  • Perform or have performed an annual review of the Chapter's financial records and communicate the results in writing to the Board of Directors.
  • Review and report in writing to the Board of Directors on the adequacy of the Chapter's internal controls.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors.

Founder's Award Committee Responsibilities:

  • Quantify member involvement and participation by use of the GLD points system to identify members eligible for the Follmer, Reeves, Muncie, and Medal of Honor awards.
  • Accurately record each member's earned points and publish that information in the Chapter newsletter.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Information Systems/Website Committee Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the Chapter President and the Program, Membership, Newsletter, and other standing committees as appropriate regarding education sessions, newsletter articles, and special projects on topics pertaining to medical information science and message processing.
  • Maintain the Chapter website.
    Maintain the Chapterr e-mail address book in accordance with National HFMA policies.
  • Distribute all email communications for the Chapter.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Membership Committee Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the Chapter's membership.
  • Set and fulfill the Chapter's goal of new member recruits.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Membership Directory Committee Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development of the annual membership directory with distribution to occur no later than November 10th of each year.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Nominating Committee Responsibilities:

  • Nominate candidates from among the qualified members of the Chapter to serve as Officers and Directors.

Past Presidents' Advisory Committee Responsibilities:

  • Advise the President and Board of Directors on strategic matters affecting the Chapter's relationship within the healthcare professional association and organization in the Commonwealth, other HFMA chapters, and Kentucky's legislative and administrative branches of government as well as general Chapter business as the need arises or as may be directed or requested by the Board of Directors.
  • Be a liaison between the Board and past presidents, encouraging past presidents to participate in Chapter activities.

Patient Financial Services Committee Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Program Committee to plan a Patient Financial Services programming track for each scheduled Institute.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual Accounts Receivable Management Focus Workshop.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Program Chair Committee Responsibilities (Winter, Spring, Fall or Summer):

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate the educational meetings and meeting announcement respectivily. 
  • Direct and support the Entertainment Committee in making necessary arrangements for meeting locations, facilities, speakers, audio-visual aids, and other items.
  • Coordinate the registration at meetings, recording of attendance, receiving and proper accounting of funds to the Treasurer on a timely basis.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Rural Healthcare & Reimbursement Committee Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Program Committee to plan a rural healthcare and reimbursement track of programming at one of the educational institutes.
  • Furnish an article for the newsletter addressing a rural health topic.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Senior Financial Executive Forum Committee Responsibilities:

  • Identify Senior Financial Executives to serve on the program committee.
  • Work with the Program committee regarding education or project opportunities tailored to senior financial executives.
  • Work with National HFMA to support National campaigns to increase/maintain senior financial executive members.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.

Strategic Planning Committee Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the Annual Chapter Strategic Plan and Budget to be considered for approval by the Chapter Board of Directors and submitted to HFMA National by June 1st of each year.

Student Membership Committee Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain the Chapter's student membership. 
  • Set and fulfill the Chapter's goal of new student member recruits.
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.  

Chapter Awards Committee Responsibilities:

  • Encourage committees and individual members to document their activities for submission to National HFMA for consideration for and Award of Excellence by the due date of April 1st of each year. 
  • Furnish committee activity reports at all regular Chapter board meetings.
